23:14.11 | PsyTech | Has there been any news on this? In Patch 6.2, the team is looking into having diminishing returns on an account wide level for missions that reward gold. It is a nerf, but alleviates some of of the pressure to have many alts. It is a problem when it scales linearly and having six characters gives you six times the amount of gold, making you feel like you have to log into them all every night. |
23:24.01 | Amarande | translation: gold farmers have probably figured out how to bot garrison missions so they want to limit the damage |
23:24.07 | Amarande | and are trying to spin it as a positive change :P |
23:24.45 | JunkHead | i haven't seen blizzard mention it, but i saw a thread on mmo-c complaining about this "nerf" |
23:25.01 | JunkHead | but the issue is mainly that garrisons are producing too much gold. |
23:25.10 | JunkHead | and blizz is trying to fix it. |
23:25.14 | JunkHead | "lol" |
23:25.30 | Amarande | translation: sub figures won't recover very well |
23:25.57 | Amarande | because now the economy is inflated due to the amount of gold already swirling around in it |
23:26.03 | Amarande | and new players will be stuck with the nerfed income |
23:26.09 | Amarande | ... kinda like real life |
23:26.10 | Amarande | heh |
23:28.16 | kullervo | forcing people to play many alts has always been seen as bad practise by blizzard |
23:36.07 | PsyTech | Well, I agree.. it's really rediculous that it scales linearly. |
23:36.18 | PsyTech | It would be nice if it was a per-server nerf like the blingtron is. |
23:36.35 | JunkHead | my account ends in about 30 hours i think. |
23:36.52 | JunkHead | I'm struggling with a reason to go another month. |
23:37.01 | kullervo | my account has enough gold to buy prepaid for a couple of years |
23:37.11 | JunkHead | Oh I can buy a token. |
23:37.13 | kullervo | canceled the sub because of that |
23:37.17 | JunkHead | I just dont know if i want to. |
23:37.25 | JunkHead | I have about 130k total. |
23:37.36 | JunkHead | And I easily make the cost of a token in a month. |
23:37.43 | JunkHead | so i could keep it going... but blah |
23:38.06 | Amarande | PsyTech: yeah making it account wide is going to kill the lower population servers even more :( |
23:38.21 | *** join/#wowhead Raziel (~Raziel@cpc16-broo8-2-0-cust158.14-2.cable.virginm.net) |
23:38.36 | Amarande | people will feel obligated to focus mainly on their characters on their highest pop, most active server because that's the gold going towards raid consumables and enchants |
23:38.39 | PsyTech | Well, it's just that you have to ensure you do your gold on your main server first |
23:38.57 | Amarande | and will then be discouraged to play on their alternate servers |
23:39.07 | JunkHead | I'm curious what will happen to your garrison in the next expansion. |
23:39.11 | JunkHead | Will blizz remove them? |
23:39.25 | JunkHead | Or will they still be there. like the farm in pandaria is still there. |
23:39.32 | kullervo | probably same fate as the farm |
23:39.35 | PsyTech | Well, that's the thing.. this gold is really rediculous. |
23:39.35 | Amarande | it'll probably end up being like your farm in pandaria |
23:39.44 | JunkHead | kullervo left and ignored? |
23:39.46 | PsyTech | But the farm in pandaria stopped being useful because it was pandaria mats |
23:39.52 | kullervo | yeah |
23:39.53 | JunkHead | But wouldn't it still be super useful for making money? |
23:39.55 | PsyTech | Gold is always relevant, so they'll have to nerf or disable it |
23:40.04 | Amarande | PsyTech: next expansion will probably see another inflationary epoch in the WoW economy, though, so the gold rewards will seem cheaper |
23:40.07 | JunkHead | How do you remove it's ability to make money for no effort? |
23:40.15 | PsyTech | Well, you completely disable gold missions. |
23:40.18 | JunkHead | the only was is to remove it completely. |
23:40.32 | JunkHead | I was actaully thinking about this today |
23:40.35 | kullervo | and the salvage too |
23:40.38 | PsyTech | So now you only have creation of mats from draenor, and those salvage yard |
23:40.40 | kullervo | none of the other things matter |
23:40.47 | JunkHead | Remove missions completely it what i came up with. |
23:40.54 | Amarande | JunkHead: simple, next expansion the quest rewards swell again, so the gold from the garrison isn't much by comparison |
23:40.56 | PsyTech | Well, then you make missions a feat of strength. |
23:40.58 | kullervo | removing missions isn't an option |
23:41.02 | kullervo | yeah that |
23:41.08 | JunkHead | Because missions don't affect the leveling process (except 1 at the beginning) |
23:41.13 | kullervo | like old dungeon achis were converted to FoS |
23:41.20 | Amarande | just like every other xpac which is why now you get showered in gold pieces for doing a five minute breadcrumb quest :) |
23:41.34 | PsyTech | I think they'll just remove gold missions. Keep everythign else. |
23:41.45 | JunkHead | I think I'd be ok with that. |
23:41.47 | PsyTech | The good thing is that hexweave bags will become the defacto standard. |
23:41.58 | PsyTech | No point in making frostweave if hexweave is so easy to get |
23:42.03 | JunkHead | I've sill yet to make/use one. |
23:42.09 | JunkHead | still* |
23:43.05 | kullervo | hexweave bags? |
23:43.24 | kullervo | I do nothing on my tailor alt but craft the daily cd and toss more cloth in the building |
23:43.45 | JunkHead | i dont craft anything. |
23:43.52 | JunkHead | dont even do my cooldowns. |
23:44.20 | kullervo | cloth is the only useful one |
23:44.21 | kullervo | because bags |
23:45.54 | kullervo | also bags, and sometimes bags, and I quite like the bags as well |
23:55.12 | PsyTech | bags are nice |
