15:01.11Megalonmaybe there is an implementation in node.js
15:08.29GnarfozI'm sure there is
15:23.46znfI'd be surprised if there wasn't
15:38.26Gnarfoz¯\_(ツ)_/¯
15:38.55Gnarfozany idea how to most simply do a "picture in picture" video insert?
15:50.05Megalonjust add another source in obs? >:P
15:52.04znfyeah, you use ffmpeg
15:52.30znf-filter_complex is where is at
15:52.57znfnevcairiel, why don't videos have layers? :P
15:53.06znfor, rather, why don't containers support layers?
15:58.42GnarfozMegalon: actually, that might be the most convenient way to do it
15:59.17Megalonthat's how i would do it, because i know fucking nothing about video editing :D
16:02.53znfffmpeg -i pipInput2.flv -i pipInput1.flv -filter_complex "[0]scale=iw/5:ih/5 [pip]; [1][pip] overlay=main_w-overlay_w-10:main_h-overlay_h-10" -PIP_output2.mp4

16:41.05nevcairielyour  in-car camera is vibrating quite a bit
16:41.10nevcairielthe street camera seems much better
16:41.42Megalonwhere is the in-car one even mounted :P
16:41.51Gnarfozdriver side window suction cup thing
16:41.52Megalonprobably foz' shoulder
16:42.31Gnarfozit's a cheap generic 12€ phone mount, certainly not intended to get stable footage :D
16:43.07Megaloni wonder why you'd put the in-car thing as the big picture :P
16:43.11GnarfozI just had to get an angle of the rev counter
16:43.27nevcairielyour rev angle aint that good
16:43.29Gnarfozbecause I've been trying to get the behavior in the video, well, on video
16:44.13Gnarfozyeah it's horrible, but apart from strapping my phone to my forehead, I don't see how I could get a clean shot of the rev counter :D
16:45.35nevcairielif the camera has a decent short-distance-focus, maybe behind the steering wheel
16:46.11nevcairielbut its probably got a too narrow viewpart and bad focus behavior for that
16:46.16nevcairielviewport*
16:47.41Gnarfozmy phone can manage the short distance, but I'd have to somehow prop it up to 90 degrees, and it would of course obstruct my view of the instruments
16:48.31Megalonconnect to your obd connector :P
16:48.46GnarfozI was browsing obd dongles during lunch
16:48.58Gnarfozand then got lucky and caught it on camera instead
16:49.22Gnarfozwell, it's not the perfect example of what's going on, but it's still the same issue
16:49.46Megalonwhat's the issue?
16:50.30Megalonthe sudden spike to 3k rpm i guess
16:50.45Gnarfozyeah, or rather, the flat bit at ~1500 before that
16:50.52*** join/#wowace harl (harl@unaffiliated/harl)
16:51.00Gnarfozwhen I start off, it stays in 1st until about 2500 rpm, shifts to 2nd, and then... doesn't know wtf to do next
16:51.17Megalonoh, it's an automatic
16:51.20Gnarfozif my suspicions are correct, it's not actually a gearbox issue
16:51.25Gnarfozyeah, dct/dsg
16:53.07Gnarfozthe manual gearbox version of the same car/motor had an issue with the motor ecu that was fixed ~June 2017?, where there was low power output when starting off from a standstill (or rolling at very low speed, i.e. probably 1st gear)
16:54.03Gnarfozsome people said it felt like turbo lag, but afaik the rpm should have been too low for the turbo to be the problem
16:54.31nevcairielgotta get your firmware upgrade? =P
16:54.34Gnarfozwhen they got the ecu update, they said it felt like a new car with all the power at the low end
16:54.48Gnarfozthat's the problem: the update is only available for the manual
16:54.53Gnarfozeven though it's the same motor
16:55.22Gnarfozand the suspicion is that the (quite good, actually) dct gearbox manages to cover up this problem most of the time
16:55.29Gnarfozuntil it doesn't
16:55.35nevcairielgearbox can only do so much
16:55.36Gnarfozwhich you see in the video
16:55.42Gnarfozindeed
16:56.04nevcairielbut it may explain why a not-so-obvious problem  would go unnoticed for longer, even if its perhaps the same issue
16:56.18Gnarfozprecisely
16:56.36Gnarfozhence, I wanted to skip the "yeah we couldn't reproduce that during test drives" phase
16:56.40harlonly just joined in, but.. i had an issue with my automatic gearbox .. it disappeared by itself after a few start-ups, though..
16:57.07harland i switched between automatic and manual gearing during that time as well, so that might have helped to solve its "confusion"
16:58.28Gnarfozharl: didn't miss much; https://www.hddf.eu/video/pip.mp4 - you joined at almost the perfect moment; <Megalon> what's the issue? <Megalon> the sudden spike to 3k rpm i guess <Gnarfoz> yeah, or rather, the flat bit at ~1500 before that
17:01.15harlmine would only automatically shift to 2nd and 3rd, and from 5th to 6th, but not from 3rd to 4th to 5th..
17:02.01harland sometimes when i tried to accelerate, it would just hang around 2000-2500 rpm, unless i pushed the accelerator only slightly, and when it went above a certain threshold it would continue normally..
17:03.26znfreset fuzzy logic
17:03.35harlsomeone suspected a heater plug issue but that wasn't it
17:04.18harlsure, could have been an electronic issue, maybe even dust, that later solved itself somehow
17:04.47znfor, "adaptive learning"
17:04.56znfwhatever it's called for your car, DSGs have a learning feature
17:04.59znfsometimes it fucks up
17:05.04znfso reset the values
17:05.29harlmy car's from 2004, so not sure
17:06.01znfsome bmws from 2004 have it
17:07.15znfit's usually tied to the car seat memory profile
17:07.26znfso if you have different drivers with different profiles, that gets saved in the profile
17:07.41nevcairieldoes it scan the shape of my butt to identify me?
17:07.43znfit adapts to your driving style
17:07.52znfno, you have different profiles >_<
17:08.05nevcairielyou have to manually load them?
17:08.06znfhttps://i.ytimg.com/vi/Dnxu9M3FXy4/maxresdefault.jpg
17:08.09nevcairielwhats this, the stoneage?
17:08.24znfwell, you press a button...
17:08.39nevcairieli vote for butt-shape-detection
17:08.42silentiumnevcairiel: it uses more power for acceleration if you weigh more ;)
17:08.50znflol
17:09.18znffor some cars you can reset the gearbox logic by doing some combination of acceleration pedal and turning on/off
17:09.23nevcairielseriously though, how hard can it be to identify the driver somehow
17:09.25znffor some, you will need to use a diag tool
17:09.39znfnevcairiel, some people just use different profiles for town/long drives tough
17:10.06nevcairielyou could still do manual profiles
17:15.04harlthere are no driver profiles that i know of in my car ;)
17:15.32znfharl, no seat memory?
17:15.47znfanyway, regardless
17:15.54znftry to see if you can reset your fuzzy logic thingie
17:16.00znfno idea how it goes for each car
17:16.12znfalso, it's not always a generic OBDII command
17:17.21nevcairielman how long can it take to decrypt 75gb of game data
17:17.29nevcairielits on a SSD, hurry the shit up
17:17.48nevcairielsteam needs multi-threaded decryption =p
17:41.54Gnarfoz75gb gaem?
17:42.21Gnarfozznf: next to nothing is a generic obd2 command, though, is it? most vendors extend it by a lot and it's all proprietary
17:43.15znfObd2 had just generic shit
17:43.35znfAnything more complex you have to use the proprietary bus, yes
17:43.47Gnarfozindeed
17:44.09Gnarfozand the software for that, or even the custom connectors/modified obd2 connectors are rather... gray area
17:44.16GnarfozI might still get an OBD2 dongle for readouts, but I have no idea which; 99% of them look cheapo, and also look like they're all just re-brands of each other

20:58.27Gnarfozany recommendations? znf? :D
20:59.01znfThey all use the same elm chip afaik
20:59.10znfI really don't have a recommendation
20:59.27znfI normally use the "proper" cable for each car
21:00.44Gnarfozsince they're all obd2, how is one more proper than the other
21:01.15Gnarfoz(and yeah, I realize they're all ELM 12345blah, but maybe some are shit, don't turn off, drain your battery, have no bluetooth security, etc)
21:11.04GnarfozNOTE: This ELM327 OBD2 Bluetooth scanner is using latest 2.1 Elm Electronics firmware code. However, it does NOT use Elm Electronics chip, because that's expensive to license. Hence we use our own premium grade chip with 100% identical functionality, speed and compatibility of Elm Electronics chip. Also, this is NOT a low-quality-build or clone as is sold 99.9% of cases on eBay.
21:11.18Gnarfoz"doesn't use the original because $$$" - "not a clone"

21:37.59Gnarfozand some of the UI elements are in Spanish
21:38.09Gnarfozprobably because of the MX in the product name/URL? xD
21:41.03Gnarfozalso, the .de UI for "manage your vehicles" is just "add/remove/show parts", while the US has nice pictures and leads to... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072JTSY4B
