17:06.25unixman_homeIANAD, but. From my searching and looking at the github source, it appears that snapd requires parts of sy*md to work. So, it is not likely to be in a sy*md-free Linux.

21:43.56yellyFishdoes anyone know how to disable antialiasing without fonts looking like shit in web explorers? maybe changing fonts or something?
21:47.26gnarfaceyou know what antialiasing is for, right?
21:48.02gnarfaceyou can change the way the hints work between a couple legacy options and the new way, or you can turn it off
21:48.21gnarfacea fundamental of the way truetype fonts work though is the anti-aliasing and hinting
21:48.33gnarfacewithout, it's the definition of jaggy edges and bitmaps
21:49.16gnarfacechanging fonts really may help though, depending on the font... some of them were designed for the old hinting type, or no hinting optimization whatsoever
21:49.32gnarfacesome of the newer ones though are designed using more advanced methods, and with LCD screens in mind

21:57.12yellyFishi have hinting enabled but don't like antialiasing, makes font blurry but also don't like how default fonts used in firefox look
22:04.29gnarfacewell it's easy to fix the default fonts
22:04.36gnarfacejust install some better fonts
22:06.45yellyFishany recommendations?
22:06.54gnarfaceare you used to the windows ones, is that the problem?
22:07.09gnarfacethey're in some package in contrib or non-free... i forget exactly what it's called
22:07.25gnarfacesomething about core web fonts or some crap
22:07.38gnarfacebut there's so many options
22:07.58gnarfacei like the bitstream ones but i don't think they're the most popular
22:08.04gnarfacetry these commands
22:08.18gnarface`apt-cache search ttf-`
22:08.21gnarface`apt-cache search fonts-`
22:08.33gnarfacethat should show you most of them but there may be others...
22:12.00gnarfaceit will probably show you a couple things that are not fonts too, sorry about that... don't just blindly install every package that gets listed
22:17.25*** join/#devuan gattuso (~gattuso@pompel.me)
22:18.50gnarfaceoh and FYI you can change the hinting with `dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config`
22:18.56gnarfacei think that should still work anyway
22:19.08yellyFishyeah i did
22:20.06gnarfacehttps://wiki.debian.org/Fonts   - this page says to do it like `dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig fontconfig-config` to regenerate caches
22:21.18gnarface(i know that's a debian wiki link but none of that should be different in devuan)
