03:20.29drmessano"I suppose a few of them might run AD."
03:20.37drmessanoYeah out of 75 customers, maybe a few
03:20.59drmessanoWhen I worked for an MSP, out of 75 customers, I would say 65 of them had an AD environment
03:21.28drmessanoSBS is cheap and easy to deploy

04:18.41jmordica_Hi there. If I add a 2nd or 3rd DSN to odbc.ini like asterisk1 asterisk2 asterisk3, and specify those as well in res_odbc.conf and func_odbc.conf will asterisk be able to load balance or use multiple connections?
04:26.51igcewielingdrmessano: todays customer didn't even know where their firewall was.
04:27.41drmessanoAre you their MSP or just their telephony provider/support?
04:28.43*** join/#asterisk Chotizei (chotaire@unaffiliated/chotaire)
04:30.52drmessanoBecause if it's the later, you really have no idea if they have AD or the competency of their MSP.
04:31.58drmessanoI worked for an MSP.  Neither their telephony support nor their copier guys knew two shits about their AD environment or much beyond what they themselves supported
04:32.31drmessanoSo "The customer doesn't know where the firewall is" doesn't mean anything to me.  Most of the customers I had were clueless... that's why they had us

05:04.13igcewielingJust their telephony provider.
05:05.11igcewielingWe talk to their IT people.  90% of our customers don't have telephony people.
05:06.31igcewielingMaybe 20% of our FreePBX customers don't even have "an IT person"
05:21.30igcewielingI'm pretty sure we did an install last week where the computers were mostly Windows XP.

07:52.16Miccjmordica, I'm not sure if it's been fixed in more recent versions, but res_odbc did not handle failures well and could not handle multiple DSNs even when using func_odbc which allows multiple DSNs for read and write. I'm moving all my DB access out of asterisk and using CURL to retrieve data.
