02:49.52[TK]D-Fender~polls
02:49.52infobot"Does anyone have X or use Y?" is taking a poll, not asking a valid question. Don't do it or our army of rabid weasels will hurt you. Usually, people other than those with the exact same set up can help you and those who have sometimes will not be able to help you. Also see <ask>
02:50.13rpifanim asking
02:50.19rpifanto know how it compares with running an asterisk server
02:50.23rpifanseems to do the same thing
02:50.39[TK]D-Fenderdepends how you use them
02:50.58[TK]D-Fenderthey have API's and all sorts of stuff you can use.  Or you can use them as a dumb ITSP and nothing more
02:51.30rpifani personally would rather host my own everything
02:51.36rpifanbut i know ppl now trust the cloud blackbox
02:52.58wyoungrpifan: I run Asterisk on an AWS EC2 instance.
02:53.34rpifanbut i wonder
02:53.37rpifanabout the abstraction
02:53.40rpifanfrom asterisk to something like twilio
02:53.47rpifanand im sure everything at twilio costs money
03:05.32rpifani wonder if twilio uses asterisk

11:13.44biomorphI have Cisco 7940 phones flashed to use SIP connected to an Asterisk box.  Some of my users have bought headsets (not Cisco ones) but they do not work.  Is there a configuration option I should set to make the phones use the headset, or is it just they bought incompatible phones?
11:16.06SamotWell did they buy the phones first or the headsets?
11:16.20biomorphSorry - bought incompatible headsets I mean.
11:16.33SamotYou would have to look at the docs.
11:16.40biomorphThey bought the phones first and they work fine.
11:16.55SamotFirst, the Cisco 79xx series is old. I even think it's EOL.
11:17.59biomorphYeah - this is a charity and they bought the phones because they were cheap second hand.
11:18.20SamotYeah, they are.
11:19.00SamotWell you have to look at the phone manual and see if it has a setting that can be set for the headsets
11:19.04SamotOr replace the headsets.
11:22.34biomorphSamot, Thanks for that.  I can't find any settings that relate to headsets.
