11:23.58martinvwHi, I just read about AEL on the Asterisk wiki. voip-info.org claims that AEL is still considered EXPERIMENTAL, but the asterisk wiki doens't mention anything like that. What's the state of the art in this regard? Is it stable now, and is it recommended to use AEL instead of extensions.conf?

12:16.44dymhey all! i just migrated an installation from asterisk 11 to asterisk 13 (new machine) and it doesnt seem to pickup my sound files from /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/de/xxx with error "File xxx does not exist in any format"
12:16.58dymlanguage is set to de
12:17.13dym(extensions.conf)
12:19.09SamotDo they actually exist?

12:19.48dymSorry, yes they do.
12:20.00SamotWith the right ownership and permissions?

13:17.10dymIt's very odd - i tried moving the file from the /de to the /en and /custom subdir and even directly into sounds - still the same error.

13:37.24dymNot wanting to be a nuisance, but i copied this installation 1:1 from another machine and it worked perfectly. There is no logical flaw (such as wrong directories, etc.)
13:37.49dymcodec problem?
13:40.50SamotI would say but it still should use the wav.
13:40.57dymindeed.
13:41.01dymthis is whats so confusing
13:41.07SamotYou have sox on that thing?
13:41.21Samotsoxi /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/de/daza.wav

13:44.16SamotOK...
13:44.35dymWell, those files were made to play on asterisk, which they did before.
13:44.40SamotSo the only other thing I can think of is : chmod 644 /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/de/*
13:44.55Samoter chmod 664
13:44.57Samot664
13:45.38dymnope
13:46.34dymdammit
13:46.42dymthe solution is probably very obvious :D

13:54.13martinvwhmm, might strace -e trace=file -f -p <asterisk-pid> help? then you could see which file asterisk is actually trying to open.
13:57.36martinvwalso note that Linux will check the permissions of each folder in a path to determine if the asterisk user is allowed to read the file. Try ls -ld {/,/var,/var/lib,/var/lib/asterisk,/var/lib/asterisk/sounds,/var/lib/asterisk/sounds/de} and look for wrong folder permissions - maybe one of the folders has 750 instead of 755?
13:57.49dymmartinvw: thanks, it does indeed.
13:57.54dymfunny thing it polls all the files: https://pastebin.com/raw/87FjK8w3
13:58.28dymmartinvw: all permissions are 755 and finde.
13:58.31dymfine*
13:58.43martinvwbut it's looking in /usr/share/asterisk/sounds, not in /var/lib/asterisk/sounds
13:58.51dymohhhhh
13:58.57dymi also just realized :D
13:59.10dymi guess thats the solution then. Stupid ubuntu packaged asterisk!
13:59.11dymthanks.
