15:39.57DovidHi all. I am trying to test ou the Asterisk jitter buffer. I am testing my playing a 10 second file that plays a tone. On the box I did: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root netem delay 0ms 200ms which adds a random delay to the packets from 0 to 200 ms so we can simulate jitter. I have jitter set up in sip.conf and the jiter settings in sip.conf don't seem to be helping. When I add the delay you can hear it in the playback.
15:39.58Dovid<PROTECTED>
15:41.37DovidIs the jitter buffer only for what it gets?

16:11.53WIMPyBut jitterbuffers should only be used on the last node of the PSD network, i.e. ehen vonverting to TDM or analog.

19:06.35onebreeI know p2p video chat can be taxing, since every peer downloads the stream of the other peers. Will the same happen if using Asterisk for video conferencing?
19:12.29[TK]D-Fenderonebree: packets are parckets
19:12.43[TK]D-Fenderonebree: and "taxing" is uselessly vague
19:13.01[TK]D-Fenderonebree: * doesn't transcode.  Costs * no effort to pass video really.
19:13.14[TK]D-Fenderonebree: it costs the BANDWIDTH that the stream uses

19:15.16onebree[TK]D-Fender: Thank you. By taxing, I guess who would see more of the cost (with *) -- the end-user or the asterisk server?
19:15.39[TK]D-Fender?
19:15.47[TK]D-Fenderyour entire line of thought makes no sense
19:16.03[TK]D-FenderEach device sends its own stream and * forwards the one it forwards
19:16.04[TK]D-Fenderthe end
19:16.13[TK]D-FenderEVERY call is P2P effectively
19:16.21[TK]D-Fenderone stream in, one out
19:16.42onebreeOkay, I was talking to someone and they said that webrtc p2p in general can have issues with scalability at 5+ streams.
19:17.38onebreeI plan to read about webrtc more over the weekend.
19:17.39[TK]D-FenderSo far completely unvalidated
19:18.07[TK]D-Fender* doesn't process them.  It repacks and sends them right back out

19:18.25onebreeDoes asterisk do mesh network configuration or star network configuration?
