13:59.50keeblerpopolon: If the SATA controller can support PMP, I'll be impressed. ;)
14:00.09keeblerarokux1: Not impressed by the cubietruck.
14:00.22keeblerNot that it is a bad device.
14:00.36keeblerAnd it certainly is a very functional development platform.
14:02.39keeblerIt's a good alternative to the RPI.
14:03.21keeblerarokux1: Unless we can get a SATA HOST Controller than support PMP, doesn't matter how cheap the Multipliers are.
14:03.31keeblers/than/that
14:06.02keeblerThe 1GB Eth is nice too.
14:06.15keebler1Gb/GBit Eth
14:08.26popolonkeebler, din't know port mulitplier was possible on sata :)
14:08.43keeblerIt's not.
14:09.12popolon?
14:09.16popolonhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_multiplier
14:09.18keeblerAt least not on the current selection of ARM SoCs. Marvel has a few.
14:09.41popolonI mean, didn't know that was possible at all on any sata controller ;)
14:09.46keeblerOH!
14:09.48keeblerYes, it is.
14:09.50keebler:)
14:09.52popolonnice
14:10.05keeblerJust not on the last few posted ARM boards.
14:10.09popolonI just thinking about that this morning, thinking the time of the IDE
14:10.31popolonand the fact that I'm not able to connect SSD for sys + HDD for data
14:10.32keebleryeah, port multiplication has been around for awhile. Just not advertised.
14:10.39popolon(or using usb wire)
14:10.57popolonhttps://www.sata-io.org/technology/port_multipliers.asp
14:11.01popolonwrong link
14:11.05popolonon wp en:
14:11.24popolonhttps://www.sata-io.org/port-multipliers
14:11.27popolonfound
14:11.49keeblerBut, unless they are somehow able to redesign/program the Allwinner A20 SATA Controller to allow Port Multiplication. We're stuck with ARMv5/v^ devices.
14:12.01popolonnice they throw out thei IIS for an nginx :)
14:15.04popolonbut this is is far slower than n ports
14:15.36popolonthat's logic, and finally, I prefer to have good perfs on ssd, and a USB HDD
14:15.45keeblerI've got $300 worth of hardware on my desk I bought because no one could answer the question of whether or not the A20 could support PMP, or whether or not it uses Command-based or FIS-based Host Support. (only saw information regarding the A10).
14:16.47keeblerThe WIZARM/Exynos 5 might support it, but haven't found a link describing it as such.
14:21.30keeblerAn option to get around the SATA PMP issue would be to support a USB 3.0 to SATA 3 Bridge. But it's not an ideal solution and even though the bandwidth to the drives wouldn't really be maxed, I've yet to see a bulletproof USB to SATA RAID Array.
14:22.51keeblerNot to mention, the A20's can't process the USB connections at USB 3 speeds. The USB3.0 Hubs only allow USB 3.0 devices to talk at USB 3.0 speeds (as far as I understand it).
14:24.13keeblerNow give me a Exynos 5420 and I'll be happy.
14:24.36keeblerThey're doing the bigLITTLE execusion right.
