05:44.26CinBrand new, eh.
05:44.30BlueDragonPiperNickserv was easy enough though. I love the CLI.

05:47.07BlueDragonPiperWell, all the YIM clients kept getting on my nerves. Linux seems to be lacking a YahELite. :D
05:48.13BlueDragonPiperI get the feeling IRC is _much_ better though.
05:48.14CinI'm using IRSSI, I like to keep it simple and restricted to just text.
05:50.11CinI've noticed the difference between YIM, AIM, MSN, etc. users and IRC users is that YIM, etc. users have nothing to do and nothing to say, thus; their client provides a short bit of entertainment. Whereas people on IRC are usually in a channel-defined certain subject of conversation or are usually active in some sort with a real purpose to communicate other than to ask "What you doin'?"
05:50.17Cino.o
05:51.38BlueDragonPiper...Or, "ASL", "Whats ur name?", etc.
05:51.44CinHaha, yeah.
05:52.23CinThe worst is where someone adds *you* and then says "Who are you?"
05:53.20BlueDragonPiperI think the adding it to serve their ego. My add list has probably 6 names, and the account's over five years old.
05:54.13CinHeh, I had a lot, decided I didn't really talk to most of them and deleted them without informing them because they tend to be insulted.
05:54.14BlueDragonPiper_Or_, they use it as a frequent victims list. *chuckles*
05:54.23CinHaha.
05:54.32CinA little 'Windows users' list.
05:55.30CinFor a long time I couldn't put my finger on the reason why people in IRC are such stuck up arseholes when you're trying to joke or chat.
05:55.38BlueDragonPiperHey, erm... I am a willing Windows 2000 user. Actually over the past four days I've been recovering from a Windows crash. Damn OE dbx files are hard to convert.
05:56.10BlueDragonPiper? Haven't noticed. heh
05:56.16CinBut I realised it's like going into a cafe, sitting at a table with a bunch of people and butting into their conversation and trying to get a long. You would be treated with contempt and shunned. I think that's the reason, maybe.
05:56.37CinIf I use Windows, it's Windows 2000. :)
05:56.54BlueDragonPiperPRO and tweaked to hell.
05:57.25CinI got to a point of no tweakage and noticed how funny it is when you're setting security settings, so switched to FreeBSD.
05:58.20BlueDragonPiperOh GOD! Windows systems just love enforcing least privilege. I could cry... Those days are over dammit. :)
05:58.29CinHaha.
05:59.15CinYeah, go in a busy public chat room and observe the egos and the way people treat other people with contempt.

06:04.25CinA friend was doing a course in C++ and found he knew how to programme but had nothing to code.
06:04.42BlueDragonPiperHeh
