18:54.00Pete_uh oh, i've forgotten the password on my openslug, not quite sure how I managed it
18:56.46Pete_any way to reset it without reinstalling?
18:57.03Pete_suppose I could take out the usb disk and change it on there
18:57.38Pete_not sure how advisable that is, doesn't the password get stored in multiple locations on the slug?
19:31.11xkr47Pete_, hi
19:31.12Pete_xkr47: Sorted ;)
19:31.13xkr47how did you do it ?-)
19:31.15Pete_edited /etc/passwd, I was basically just interested if there was another method
19:31.20xkr47funny enough, half an hour before you, someone had the exact same problem, but he quit before we managed to reply to him
19:31.21Pete_weird
19:31.23xkr47I'm not fully aware yet how openslug does it
19:31.48xkr47I'm still on unslung, and was going to try openslug today but then I got a headache :P
19:32.03Pete_would have been a bit more of a problem I imagine if I had been running of the internal flash
19:32.34xkr47in unslung you just power down, remove the usb stick / hard disk where your installation is on, power back up and it will boot from the internal flash instead
19:33.01xkr47then you plug in the memory / hard disk when it's running, and you can edit the passwd file manually
19:33.23xkr47yeah, I guess so..
19:34.12Pete_Yeh, I imagine you could do the same with openslug, seems to follow there too.
19:34.32Pete_I just took the usb stick and changed it on another pc
19:34.51xkr47hehe
19:34.55xkr47you haxx0r :)
19:34.59Pete_heh
19:35.36Pete_Only really using the slug for messing about with asterisk]
19:36.41xkr47I was going to build an alarm clock out of my slug :)
19:36.49xkr47with mp3 playing and some cute display
19:37.04Pete_I was considering using a second one for a mp3 machine with mpd
19:37.04xkr47or at least that's why I bought it :)
19:37.31xkr47I was looking at VFD displays, they seem cool, but I have a hard time finding where to order them from
19:37.41xkr47they even have nice graphical VFDs
19:38.34Pete_I've got a simpleish serial backlit LCD display, haven't tried (or even considered) hooking up to the slug
19:39.30xkr47I thought about lcd too but they have quite limited viewing angles
19:39.48xkr47and I think they might be harder to read in the dark when you are groggy and just want to know how long you can sleep still :)
19:40.50xkr47then one could ofc get a led display also..

19:50.04xkr47usb -coonnected ?
19:50.10Pete_cheap solder it yourself job
19:50.14Pete_rs232
19:50.37Pete_I imagine it would work through one of those usb-serial cables you can get pretty cheap these days
19:50.40xkr47you could solder a rs232 port onto the slug :)
19:50.50Pete_you could do that too

21:26.27xkr47having just flashed the openslug firmware, I wonder how much swap to put, I have a 2G flash stick only
21:28.54xkr47woot, the usb stick automounter does not use noatime by default
21:30.31xkr47how about the separate 128M conf partition that unslung created, is it needed in openslug ?
21:44.21xkr47strange thing, I unmounted all disks in openslug before running fdisk
21:44.29xkr47when I do "w" to write the partition table, it mounts /dev/sda1 automatically before I even got to format it (it happened to start in the same place as the old partition)
22:32.16*** part/#openslug Pete_ (n=pete@nock.demon.co.uk)
22:44.58xkr47gaa, I changed dropbear port to 122 and now it does not respond to 22 nor 122
