21:20.54ernie123Hi.
21:23.18ernie123Does the ixp4xxx driver in the 2.6.19 kernel work on the nslu2? Or do I still need the Intel driver?
21:24.38[g2]ernie123 I think the GPL driver works fine, but there is probably some setup for the firmware DL
21:24.50[g2]firmware being the NPE firmware
21:25.13[g2]and you probably need to do both together
21:25.51ernie123OK. The driver docs talk about either hotplug or some kind of partition.
21:28.00ernie123Ah, maybe I shouldn't be so stubborn :). I don't have a serial connection to my slug, I'm not even able to replace the openslug standard kernel, and I'm thinking about changing NIC drivers... My biggest problem is the documentation. It's pretty scattered, and parts are outdated/incomplete.
21:28.36ernie123Is there a known-to-work guide to roll a 2.6.19 kernel and flash it to the slug?
21:33.37[g2]ernie123 it's a working progress
21:33.54[g2]s/working/work in/
21:37.01ernie123alright. is it something I can help out with?
22:02.16ernie123g2 is the fact that the ixp4xxx driver is now in the kernel the reason that the build of the intel module is removed from the latest kernel (2.6.19) Makefile from svn.nslu2-linux.org?
22:03.23[g2]ernie123. Right don't know the last version the Intel driver was supported 2.6.16/17
22:03.42[g2]I think as of .18 the GPL NPE driver was in the repo
22:06.08ernie123g2 thanks. I finally start to get a good overview on the different components that I need to get this new kernel working.
