17:01.24infobotusbfix is probably http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=75920 - and **NEVER** use epoxy (unless you want to seal your device for underwater)

20:12.30DocScrutinizer05merlin1991: ohnoes, not yours too
20:13.02merlin1991DocScrutinizer05: its my sisters
20:13.07merlin1991and it is fixed as of a few hours ago
20:13.19DocScrutinizer05:-)
20:13.22merlin1991all hail to the friendly people @ metalab.at :)
20:14.27merlin1991though I have to say the original port was hard to remove
20:14.45DocScrutinizer05glued?
20:14.47merlin1991it was completely loose on one side, but still refused leave
20:15.03merlin1991nah, it was factory fresh before this operation
20:15.16DocScrutinizer05yeah, factory glued
20:15.32DocScrutinizer05a common practice for SMT
20:16.16merlin1991we started with the heat soldering equipment but that didn't do much, so in the end we used a regular soldering iron @ 450C to get the bastard off :D
20:16.49DocScrutinizer05they sometimes use really nasty acrylic cyanate glue to place components to where they belong
20:17.25DocScrutinizer05and 450° might be about the temperature where the glue breaks
20:18.29merlin1991though the new port sucks
20:18.54DocScrutinizer05I tried to unsolder a display connector from a flex, and at 380°C the plastic broke when I tried to lift it off
20:18.59merlin1991instead of 4 pads it had 2 pads and 2 plastic "foots" which we had to remove
20:20.40merlin1991I'm thinking about applying some additional solder to the port on the sides
20:21.24merlin1991ah yeah and I should add the info of some talk thread that pointed out data+ data- and 5v "debug" pads
20:21.43merlin1991+to the wiki page
20:23.17merlin1991DocScrutinizer05: can I use your pcb scan as a base image to mark all the stuff?
20:23.35merlin1991s/can/may/
20:24.28DocScrutinizer05err, sure you can mark all you want. Publishing however please only with proper attribution
20:24.57DocScrutinizer05and possibly you want to downrender it
20:25.29merlin1991yeah I'll downrender it a lot :)
20:25.58merlin1991I'm asking because it says "Copyright of all photos by joerg@openmoko.org, you are not allowed to copy and use these photos without written permission of joerg" on your page
20:26.48DocScrutinizer05this is the written permission, it asks for CC-BY-CA
20:26.53DocScrutinizer05;-)

20:29.07DocScrutinizer05yep, you definitely should do the reinforcement by soldering down the sides, as suggested in several posts of ~usb-fix

22:09.30merlin1991ah yeah, before: http://cdnm.at/~christian/maemo/usb_fix/20131217_002.jpg after: http://cdnm.at/~christian/maemo/usb_fix/13120007.jpg
22:10.15merlin1991and the not so successfull intermediate:  http://cdnm.at/~christian/maemo/usb_fix/13120005.jpg :)
22:11.11freemangordonmerlin1991: oh, so instead of releasing the new cssu-t you do soldering work? :P
22:15.07merlin1991freemangordon: I should release it on the 24th shouldn't I? ;)
22:15.26merlin1991I'll probably do it tomorrow, all that's missing is the changelog for the mp
22:15.45merlin1991I've even done the wiki already http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/Changelog#Tmaemo9

22:32.46hbib3a release on christmas would be nice :)
22:34.35merlin1991hbib3: I'll probably do it tomorrow though :)
22:37.16hbib3nevertheless every n900 user will have a pre-christmas present :)
23:01.33sixwheeledbeastevery n900 user?
23:02.13*** join/#maemo-ssu LauRoman|Alt (~LauRoman@5-14-51-146.residential.rdsnet.ro)
23:03.38hbib3to be correct: every non-thumb cssu n900 user :D
23:07.11sixwheeledbeasttry again
23:09.26kerioevery cssu-testing user
23:09.31merlin1991yeah it's actually every non cssu-stable user
23:09.44merlin1991since the mp will override the -thumb mp untill freemangordon releases one on top
23:10.03merlin1991and we don't talk about non-cssu users in here ;)
23:10.18sixwheeledbeast:)
23:10.41sixwheeledbeastyep exactly CSSU-T users only :(
23:12.03hbib3but i don't see any reason why an average n900 user shouldn't install cssu-testing
23:12.16hbib3i did never experience any issues
23:15.15merlin1991sixwheeledbeast: it's cssu-t and cssu-thumb users
23:16.39sixwheeledbeastmerlin1991: yep, CSSU-thumb is based on CSSU-T, I know.
23:17.58sixwheeledbeasthbib3: it's still "testing", average n900 users are a different breed to "average users".
23:24.56sixwheeledbeastJust because you haven't had any issues doesn't mean there isn't any either. That's the point of long term testing and bug reporting.
23:29.53hbib3sixwheeledbeast: yep, that's true, but I think if you are nowadays a n900 user, you know what your are doing (familiar with GNU/Linux) and can risk a testing flavour ...
23:30.11hbib3but that's just my opinion ;)
23:33.32*** join/#maemo-ssu sixwheeledbeast (~paul@cl-1547.lon-02.gb.sixxs.net)
23:37.26sixwheeledbeasthbib3: not necessarily, I have a CSSU-thumb "testing/dev device" and a CSSU-S "daily device". I can't do with any downtime on my daily device so I stay on "stable". I do agree that it seems pointless to install CSSU-T without thumb which was mentioned recently.
