01:04.32DocScrutinizerSpacedOut: I happen to have a browser window open on my desktop that I got on "todo": http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1050432#post1050432
01:06.04DocScrutinizerSpacedOut: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=690253&postcount=20 doesn't look like a daemon is needed to record end-of-call times to db
01:06.28DocScrutinizerAIUI it works with a stored procedure inside the sql db
01:07.51SpacedOutThanks for the pointers, I'll look into them.  I was surprised the end_time wasn't filled out since it was there, and I expected since it wasn't set it got forgotten or something.
01:08.35SpacedOutI also expected since it still wasn't being set years after the device was released if I wanted it set I had to do it myself.

02:03.36SpacedOutI read those posts and I'm sticking to my daemon approach, but thanks for sharing them.  The database trigger method is as dumb of logic as you can get, as in KISS, but adding any change in time to the last call fails when there are multiple calls in that direction.  The daemon I wrote can handle this, although I think there is a small window of opportunity if both calls start at the same time.
02:04.40SpacedOutAs far as the second set of scripts, they are running all the time.  So the trade off is something running all the time to collect the duration vs something running all the time to display it.
02:19.49SpacedOutDocScrutinizer: Was it on your todo list to enable updating the end_time on your phone or for some other reason?
02:20.22DocScrutinizererr what?
02:20.43DocScrutinizerwhat's running all the tine?
02:20.48SpacedOutJust curious why you had those bookmarked.
02:20.59DocScrutinizermy todo list resulted in me finally updating:
02:21.02DocScrutinizer~jrtools
02:21.02infobotjrtools is probably http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Joerg_rw/tools
02:22.33DocScrutinizernfc if e.g advanced call history app will display duration now that I've added that stored procedures to the database
02:23.16DocScrutinizerI'm not particularly interested in the "remaining minutes" display of the thread I originally posted above
02:23.33SpacedOutI still wonder why they had the field in the first place since they didn't populate it.
02:23.52DocScrutinizerI think they simply missed to add the triggers/SPs
02:24.27SpacedOutThe problem with the triggers approach is it just adds to the last call, no matter if you had two calls and the first ended last.  My daemon handles that case.
02:24.52DocScrutinizerthere's like 5 dozen such unfished nice raw building blocks in fremantle
02:25.09DocScrutinizerabsolutely same for profiles
02:25.52SpacedOutNo kidding for profiles, pick two.  I might go for three, sound+vibrate, vibrate, none, not two.
02:26.28DocScrutinizerall the low level stuff can handle as many different profiles as you want, just the status plugin is too braindamaged to get it right to do more than just "default" and "silent"
02:27.43DocScrutinizerwhich is especially sad when the top level shit is a closed blob you even have a hard time to replace by sth comprehensive
02:28.39DocScrutinizersame with dialer: it looks up the contact for inbound calls but misses to display the NUMBER!!
02:28.52DocScrutinizerFFS
02:29.17DocScrutinizerwe opened a bug against that BS in PR1.0 IIRC.
02:29.23DocScrutinizerNokia didn't care
02:30.03DocScrutinizerin PR1.3.1 you still got no clue whether your mom called from office, from home, from her mobile, or maybe even via SIP
02:30.09SpacedOutI guess they demonstrate the value of binary proprietary software, it works until you decide it doesn't do what you want it to.
02:31.32DocScrutinizerwell, I'm not correct with the SIP stuff, dialer is too stupid to get the "sip:" lead-in and "@mysipprovider.tld" stripped
02:32.04DocScrutinizersi a inbound from sip:12345@foo.bar never gets matched to contact with phone number 12345
02:32.11SpacedOutFor a long while I wanted to redo the GUI for answering the call so the answer and reject buttons were in the same place no matter if it was landscape or portrait, then I told it not to rotate.
02:32.11DocScrutinizerso*
02:32.42DocScrutinizeryeah, another PITA: USABILITY
02:33.18DocScrutinizerwhich *IDIO*** placed the accept and reject button next to each other?
02:33.54DocScrutinizer...instead of getting sliders rather than mere huge buttons, first instance
02:33.57SpacedOutThen there's the e-mail client.  I need to spend some more time on the IDLE patch to be notified within a few seconds of the e-mail being received, it works, but still has some threading deadlocks in it.
02:34.50SpacedOutYep, I've hung up on people trying to answer.  I'm not sure what the voice mail looking icon is supposed to do because it always gives me an error.
02:36.14SpacedOutI've been walking to thank Pali for packaging up the newer fennec, the previous one didn't work with IPv6, this one does.

14:32.33amiconnWhat's puzzling me is that fennec is several times slower than microb, using the same web browser engine
14:39.14MohammadAGI _think_ microB is threaded
14:39.35MohammadAGthe engine runs in a completely separate process and the rendered page shows on the UI
14:43.45DocScrutinizernow that's for sure
14:44.00DocScrutinizera ps will prove it

15:13.28MohammadAGfennec runs it in the same process
15:15.39DocScrutinizerI guess in #maemo and #maemo chanlog you could find quite a number of answers regarding this topic
15:33.53RaimuBesides AIUI it isn't the exactly the same engine anymore. Anyway, even the different n900 fennec builds vary in speed.
15:34.33Raimuminus one instance of "the" here
15:37.30DocScrutinizer(LD_PRELOAD a patch to move the buttons) hah, my suggestion sine long. At least partially, I'd prefer to even replace style of buttons from mere pushbutton to a slider switch
15:38.57DocScrutinizerAIUI it's not exactly simple to implement that patch, but feasible
15:45.13MohammadAGDocScrutinizer, the number of patches I've seen on iOS...

16:03.07naruhello any budy hear ?
16:03.49narui did installed mego, nemo, android but they all os are working slow in "900
16:05.31naruonly maemo origneal os is working fine but i dont knw why popular chat appication no working proarly.. nimbuzz, fring whatsapp
16:09.03amiconnMohammadAG: While that might explain differences in "snappiness", it doesn't explain differences in overall speed
16:10.37naruin cssu you update toch parfomnce is to good and speed also now bettor but something missing
16:12.11narureal 3G video calling not suporting nokia n900 have front camera but wee cant use reall video calling
16:12.33andre__naru, how is that related to the CSSU? :)
16:12.40Lava_Croftuh
16:13.35narucssu update today i did upated its realy amaging
16:15.08naruandre can you tell me is it possibel real video calling in cssu update only gtalk and and skypee suported in n900
16:16.28andre__naru, what is "real"?
16:16.43amiconnonce compared microb, fennec, opera mobile and midori using rightmark's browsermark
16:16.45andre__Real Player has been dead for ages. :)
16:17.58narui m not telling real player .. i m telling cellulor video calling mins mobile numner to mobile number video calling that i wnt
16:18.48Lava_Croftmy eyes
16:19.00naruwhen its possibel in my n900 ?
16:19.00andre__naru, I have problems to read what you write :-(
16:19.11andre__it's hard to understand.
16:19.18andre__what is "mins"?
16:19.40naruandre have you n900 ?
16:19.44merlin1991andre__: by the, you asked for bugmeeting logs, what format and also where would you prefer them?
16:19.46amiconnThe clear winner was opera mobile with a score of ~17500, microb and midori where about equally fast (~12500). Fennec was the slowest by far: 2500
16:19.54merlin1991s/by the,/by the way,/
16:20.14andre__merlin1991: any that is readable for the public when posting the link to it on a maemo mailing list and talk.maemo.org :)
16:20.21andre__naru, sure
16:20.25andre__three. :P
16:20.48merlin1991err why do you have 3? :D
16:21.04merlin1991I mean I run stock, testing and stable todo regression tests, but what's your rationale?
16:21.09naruthen tell me how you call video call in n900 ? only gtalk and by skypee na ?
16:21.33merlin1991naru: gtalk and skype should work, 3g video calls never were implemented
16:21.45andre__merlin1991, one has broken USB, the other ran MeeGo.
16:22.07merlin1991also cssu cannot provide you with an update for 3g video calls because the neccesary components are nokia closed source
16:22.19naruya that i m asking any updation for real video calling ?
16:22.38merlin1991not going to happen
16:23.14andre__naru: that's a question to Nokia who have that code.
16:23.16naruandree meego is slow in my n900 .. ya nemo working but my sim internet not working in nemo
16:23.23andre__and we're not Nokia.
16:23.27andre__MeeGo is deader than Maemo.
16:23.42andre__Nobody runs MeeGo anymore anyway. If at all, then Mer.
16:23.50andre__(Mer/Nemo)
16:23.59andre__anyway, that's not the topic here.

16:31.27merlin1991naru: what else do you expect to rotate?
16:32.40naruin conversion is it posibel to ratate ?
16:33.09merlin1991naru: there is a patch somewhere on bugs.maemo.org which you have to apply manually

16:43.56naruocscrutinizer are you sure ? becuz its overclocking update thats why i m asking u
16:44.33DocScrutinizernevertheless Nokia care will not help with problems when you are using CSSU. They will ask you to revert to stock maemo version PR1.3.1 and then come back with your problem, if it still exists
16:45.02DocScrutinizeroverclocking is nasty, deprecated, and for sure will void your warranty
16:45.15DocScrutinizercssu is NOT about overclocking
