00:07.50danieldgit's very strange because the plasma control works with rhythmbox, and kdeconnect can see and control both audacious and rhythmbox (along with exposing my phone's player to control from my desktop).
00:09.07JanKusanagimaybe Audacious' MPRIS implementation is not fully compliant
00:09.11JanKusanagiwhat version of Plasma is this?
00:09.23danieldgplasmashell 5.18.5
00:10.10danieldgit wouldn't surprise me, but I would expect an error or something
00:10.37JanKusanagiI recall something about fixes for something related to certain MPRIS interfaces, maybe it was for 5.19...
00:11.35danieldgrhythmbox does expose a few more functions on dbus
00:13.01danieldgI would assume that would just mean you can't add files to audacious (that's most of the diff)

00:18.04danieldghmm. Audacious doesn't seem to export org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player.OpenUri, and https://specifications.freedesktop.org/mpris-spec/latest/Player_Interface.html does list that - can't tell for sure if that means it's required

06:52.00Merci didnt mess with the servicemenu bit
06:53.20MercThe reason I wrote this application is because I noticed a lot of menus had not been ported to KDE4, rather than port them, I thought "why not write an application so everyone can make these menus easily.". So I did.

07:03.08Mercawesome
07:03.25Mercyea with linux sometimes you have to go through 2 or 3 guides :)
07:03.41Mercglad you got it working
07:05.32aienamore than guides it was actually these .desktop files on the kde store that helped
07:05.55aienaits no longer X-KDE-ServiceTypes= it;s just ServiceTypes=
07:06.33aienathe rest is correct so thats why the techbase article looked right

19:15.48ChaekyungI could boot another system and see what happens inside KDE
19:15.52Chaekyungbut I kind of don't want to
19:16.07ChaekyungKDE programs have a increasing number of laughable bugs that only appear outside of KDE.
19:16.16ChaekyungLike some programs being scaled up while others aren't
19:16.21lordofallcubesthnx for checking though
19:16.44lordofallcubesscaling issues could be due to missing the environmental variable that triggers it
19:16.45Chaekyungie kwrite and kcalc don't get the same size menus and icons etc unless you set QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0
19:16.51lordofallcubesbecause otherwise I think the app needs to set that in code
19:17.00lordofallcubesyeah, that variable
19:17.16lordofallcubesIt's not clear to me what the best scaling behavior is for apps in qt
19:17.38Chaekyunglordofallcubes: I know I moved to a different topic. :) But it's only KDE programs that magically decide to act as if QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=1 when unset and it is just _some_ of them not all of KDE

19:18.17Chaekyungthat's not the case

19:19.46lordofallcubesI think I'd rather just pass all my metrics through a dpiscale method
19:21.01Chaekyunglordofallcubes: here's a problem you have to solve, then: KDE systemconfig lets you set font and icon sizes. qt5ct lets you set font and icon sizes. many linux users have set those. scaling not required because icons and fonts are the size the end-user perfers.
19:21.14*** join/#kde clynamen (~clynamen@net-5-94-204-25.cust.vodafonedsl.it)
19:21.38Chaekyunglordofallcubes: windows and macOS users have typically not set those things.
19:22.09lordofallcubesThe app is not open source (I work for a company :P), so I can get away with not respecting user scaling in favor of proper scaling.
19:23.14Chaekyunglordofallcubes: so if your qt program is primarily not for gnu/linux then you'll have to do whatever they recommend at https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/highdpi.html
19:23.21ChaekyungQT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR is depricated btw
