03:11.49Mercanyone know of a good hard disk space monitor widget for KDE plasma 5?  there's a HD space widget but it displays horizontally and is really weird
03:12.25Merchttps://i.imgur.com/A92E8fh.png
03:12.52Merctakes up way too much space... i just want two vertical bars
03:13.12Merci went to 'download new widgets' but i couldnt find anything

03:34.16jankusanagi_for the record, any Plasma widget can be rotated
03:34.45jankusanagi_and the look highly depends on your Plasma theme

03:49.42Mercyeah if i could rotate it for the meter bars to be vertical
03:49.46Mercthat would be perfect
03:50.46Mercjankusanagi_:
03:51.23jankusanagi_like any other widget, if you long-press on it to move it, the bar that appears on the side has a rotate button

03:51.38Merclong press?

03:52.23jankusanagi_more than one mouse? :D
03:52.31jankusanagi_yes, long press
03:52.33Merci see no rotate function
03:52.55Merc"long press" is for touch interfaces
03:53.06Merc"long press" doesnt tell me anything about a desktop system with a mouse
03:53.20jankusanagi_no, long press is for anywhere
03:53.39jankusanagi_but go ahead and discuss it more instead of just trying
03:53.59Mercdude... i click on the applet, "long press" on my mouse button
03:54.01Mercit doesnt do anything
03:54.25jankusanagi_then you must be on an old version of Plasma
03:54.38jankusanagi_if you have the option of unlocking widgets, do that first
03:54.43Mercwhat do you think long press means in the context of a mouse
03:55.11Mercthe widgets arent locked

03:56.56Merchow about you add this widget, it's called "Hard DIsk Space Usage"
03:57.05Mercand get it to display the bars verticallyu
03:57.11Mercans then you can tell me how you did it
03:58.56*** join/#kde lacrimosa (~quassel@unaffiliated/lacrimosa)
03:59.35Mercin fact, show me a screenshot
04:01.29Merchttps://i.imgur.com/RPoGiTV.png
04:01.49Mercthat's my full Plasma panel... as you can see, the disk space is horizontal
04:01.56Merci can find no way to "rotate" it
04:02.36Merci want the hard disk bars to be vertical, like the CPU/MEM bars are to the right
04:02.58Mercif you dont know how, just say so, otherwise you're not giving me useful information with "long pressing"
04:03.05Mercthere is no "long pressing" on a mouse
04:05.14MercX11 doesn't measure how long a mouse button is pressed, it's either 1 or 0
04:09.24Mercif it would help i could record a video of me interacting with the panel and widgets?
04:12.08Merci see if you drag it off of the panel, you can rotate it on your desktop
04:12.33Mercbut im not using the widget on my desktop, im using it on the panel
04:14.10Mercno matter which direction i rotate the widget, when i drag it to the panel, it goes horizontal
04:24.50Mercokay so what you meant to say is "if the widget is on the desktop, you can rotate it, but if it's on the panel, you cannot
04:25.00Mercs/cannot/cannot\"

10:44.40pingufanHello. I am running Plasma5 on a dual screen system (openSUSE Leap 15.0).  The screens are not side-by-side, the secondary one is on another desk. What drives me crazy is that programs often open on this secondary screen.   How can I enforce that every program opens on the primary screen? In some cases I want to drag a program to the second screen, but initially it should open on the primary screen.

19:59.20ryzokukenI have a small problem
19:59.56ryzokukenToday, I decided that it was a PITA to check all the edge cases on my custom theme and that breeze was pretty good anyway, why not just switch to breeze.
20:00.23ryzokukenthe problem is, with the default breeze colors and everything, the todo list on Kontact is completely inaccessible.
20:00.42ryzokukenis this a genuine bug that could be patched?
20:01.24ryzokukenHere's how it looks like https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/vPp96FCk/Screenshot_20200318_013102.png
20:02.44jankusanagi_well, I wouldn't call that "completely".. but yes, that's certainly a genuine issue xD
20:03.19jankusanagi_I'm guessing it's actually a bug in Kontact
20:03.32ryzokukenjankusanagi_: yeah, I mean, not completely.
20:03.40ryzokukenbut I have decent eyes and I need to squint lol
20:03.51jankusanagi_since it should know it's using a specific background color different than "normal", so it needs a text color different than "normal"
20:04.02ryzokukenor had, this actually causes atleast some discomfort in it's whole glory.
20:04.12jankusanagi_unless those red and orange tones come from Kontact too
20:04.47ryzokukenjankusanagi_: can you help me triage this? I'm new to KDE but would love to start becoming more proactive.
20:05.22*** join/#kde alextai (~alextai@87.70.92.175)
20:06.06jankusanagi_well, I'd edit the Breeze Dark color scheme (I assume that's what you meant you were using) and try to find those red and orange tones, change them, save that as "myGreatColorScheme" and use that, see if they actually affect Kontact's contents
20:06.18*** join/#kde kuanyui_ (~kuanyui@61-231-199-233.dynamic-ip.hinet.net)
20:06.23ryzokukenOkay
20:07.00jankusanagi_if that red and that orange aren't found in the Breeze Dark palette, then Kontact is either hardcoding those colors, or has a configuration for them somewhere
20:07.18jankusanagi_I assume they indicate some kind of priority
20:09.42ryzokukenjankusanagi_: that they do.
20:09.55ryzokukenthey absolutely do indicate priority.
20:10.11ryzokukenwhat I do not yet know is if it is picking them up from the color scheme...
20:10.17ryzokukenwait, it probably is?
20:10.18*** join/#kde kpo__ (~kpo@62.87.215.229)
20:10.26ryzokukensince it was better when I was using Arc theme?
20:10.28ryzokukensilly me.
20:11.04*** join/#kde alextai (~alextai@87.70.24.240)
20:12.03jankusanagi_if they're different with another color scheme, then Kontact's definitely using them, which is good
20:12.33jankusanagi_but Kontact should also know that using special backgrouns might need using special foregrounds
20:13.29jankusanagi_but it's tricky, since those colors might have a vague meaning, not necesarily implying they're bright and require dark text
20:15.19ryzokukenjankusanagi_: right and right
20:15.32ryzokukenmaybe I should just patch breeze dark to make those colors a little darker?
20:16.48ryzokukenjankusanagi_: wait, nope, my bad.
20:16.50jankusanagi_that doesn't require any "patching", just editing the color scheme via GUI and saving it with another name
20:16.56jankusanagi_but that will only help you
20:17.03ryzokukenI just tried switching themes, it won't change
20:17.13ryzokukenalso noticed that it looks fine on a light theme
20:17.22jankusanagi_so the color scheme doesn't affect the red or orange?
20:17.22ryzokukenmaybe that's why the developer didn't notice it?
20:17.28ryzokukenjankusanagi_: it doesn't
20:17.34jankusanagi_of course, since a typical light theme has "normal text" set to black
20:17.38ryzokukenit affects other things around it, but not THAT color
20:17.42ryzokukenjankusanagi_: right
20:18.00jankusanagi_then it's a Kontact-specific color, which might be easier for them to fix
20:18.09ryzokukenmaybe one could patch Kontact to check if the theme is light or dark and use appropriate colors?
20:18.45jankusanagi_at the very least, if it's not a configurable (inside Kontact) color, then Kontact devs could for the text color to also be what they expect
20:18.59jankusanagi_disregarding the user color scheme, but making it readable
20:19.20ryzokukenjankusanagi_: right.
20:19.25jankusanagi_checking "if the theme is light or dark" doesn't make sense to me
20:19.30ryzokukenwhat do you propose I do? File an issue?
20:19.40jankusanagi_the theme could be all yellows, greens and pinks
20:19.45ryzokukenjankusanagi_: okay, sorry, I have no clue how this works haha
20:19.53jankusanagi_I propose you talk to the Kontact devs directly =)
20:19.57ryzokukenI was just thinking out loud
20:20.05jankusanagi_and yes, probably file a bug report afterwards
