00:10.50JanKusanagiwell, for the specific KScreen case, you might want to use kscreen-console

00:14.07Guest_37ha yeah, man looks like it will do refresh rate but i just used it as an example, what if i wanted night color instead? or something else, is everything have its own command? gnome most, if not all is just gsettings, i know night color in gnome is org...settings-daemon... but not there in plasma
00:16.56JanKusanagiin Plasma, many things have a D-Bus interface
00:17.30JanKusanagiother have a kded module that can also be used via the org.kde.kded5 interface
00:18.01Guest_37is there somewhere with a list? cause i tried qdbusviewer and couldn't find night color or refresh rate
00:18.08ZeroCostAbstracti was being sarcastic, it wasn't there. And my "system" isn't broken just because one menu entry somewhere is missing
00:18.31JanKusanagiZeroCostAbstract: it's not a menu entry, it's a checkbox in the settings window
00:18.59JanKusanagiso either you didn't look where I said, or your Konsole is missing standard options
00:19.07JanKusanagi(i.e. broken)
00:20.06ZeroCostAbstract"Settings" is under the Menu bar
00:20.42ZeroCostAbstractidk why my console would be missing that option
00:20.43ZeroCostAbstractit's odd
00:21.21JanKusanagiyou open Konsole's settings from the menu, but the option I mentioned is _inside_ the settings window, not in a menu
00:26.59ZeroCostAbstractgod why am i even bothering when it's obvious my konsole layout is different for some reason

01:33.55zebrag"horizontal scrolling" is a functionality found in "several" pdf viewers; Or maybe I'm mistaken there ;). However with larger screens, the ability to place several pages, of a book, side to side horizontally, and to scroll horizontally left of right, not in a single page, but in the whole book or document, is imo, something that seems obvious.
01:34.28zebragI'm surprised not to find so many comments in that direction on the web.
01:34.59sarnoldI detest horizontal scrollbars :)
01:35.22JanKusanagiI can't imagine moving to pages horizontally on a screen could be good...
01:35.37JanKusanagiprecisely the vertical layout is easier to follow
01:36.08zebragYou'd have several full pages side to side on your screen
01:36.27zebragso the scrolling here is like page turning
01:36.29JanKusanagiI don't see why I'd want that, TBH xD
01:36.39zebragthare are applications doing that on android
01:36.43JanKusanagidoesn't sound comfortable
01:37.03JanKusanaginot everything needs to imitate the physical world
01:37.50sarnoldphysical e-readers often let you tap the left side or right side of the screen to go forward or backward; those work out okay
01:38.16sarnoldI've seen readers on android that animmated those actions and it just felt annoying, like, I wanted to read the next page already :)
01:38.21zebragBut my screen is much larger that an e-reader
01:38.31JanKusanagimoving forward or backward, sure
01:38.40JanKusanagibut displaying more than one page at once...
01:38.44zebragand I can put 3 larges pdf pages side to side
01:38.53sarnoldleft page, right page, and center page :)
01:39.36zebragWhen there are more than one page at once, the eye is able to encompass much more information, mostly for scientific documents
01:39.40zebragnot for novels
01:41.28JanKusanagiyou could use the "facing pages" mode...
01:41.57JanKusanagior "overview"
01:43.21zebragyes, it's what I'm doing presently, but when "turning" the page, there is a "jump" which confuses the mind (with a physical book, the mind is much more connected with "where" the information is exactly)

Considering I'm reading something that I find technical and difficult, I would be happy, if the page turning thing would show me pp. 68, 69, 70; so I could more easily keep track of what I'm reading, with context
01:55.59JanKusanagiso what you'd like is a horizontal mode, like "overview", but all pages in one single horizontal "line", correct?

03:27.33sarnoldkev_suse-M: I'd assume so -- there's a syscall statfs(2) that applications can use that will return both the amount of free space on a filesystem and the amount of free space available for an unprivileged user to use
