01:39.31pjHi. Can someone tell me if there's a channel to get help for Kolourpaint?
01:43.25JanKusanagiI doubt there's one specific to that
01:45.08pjIs it ok (on topic) to ask about it in here?
01:45.12JanKusanagisure
01:46.05pjI'm having problems erasing to transparent with either the eraser or color eraser tool.  It will erase to any other background color but if I set the background to transparent it simply does nothing at all.
01:46.26pjis there something I'm missing to make it work to erase to transparent?
01:47.00sarnoldI've never heard of this tool before, so take my question with that in mind :) -- is the imagine a format that doesn't support transparency?
01:47.19pjit's png and already has a transparent background
01:49.21pjI get the feeling that it's trying to paint over the image with transparent, rather than replacing the image with transparent.

01:52.33JanKusanagimaybe Kolourpaint's understanding of transparency is limited, since it's a pretty basic program
01:53.24*** join/#kde logzet (~quassel@unaffiliated/logzet)
01:54.06pjJanKusanagi: could be.  I always like to use it because it's so basic, but I would think that erasing (and in testing just now even drawing) in transparent should actually replace the pixels with transparent.

02:01.01pjlooks like it might be this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259994
02:02.39pjno, that's old
02:04.27JanKusanagiit it's old but not fixed... =)
02:04.52JanKusanagiah no, it says fixed
02:07.05pjlooks like it might be this one: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=266883
02:07.06JanKusanagithey also say that Kolourpaint's transparency supports more than binary transparent/opaque... maybe you need to adjust the opacity?
02:07.21pjhrmmmm, if I can figure out how, yes.
02:07.35pjbut yeah, with me it works with flood fill, but not with drawing tools.
02:08.18pjit also works if I select an area and then "clear" it

20:56.59noob8650I am having a seemingly insur-mount-able problem in KDE, the KDE device manager always tells me that I don't have permission to mount my external encrypted HDD partition when I try to mount it after entering the password.
20:57.04noob8650What can I do?
20:57.23noob8650I searched he web, and there don't seem to be any useful answers, so I thought I could ask here.
20:58.01sarnolddo you have 'user' on the mountpoint in /etc/fstab? do you need it?
20:58.27noob8650Huh? In what context would it be required?
20:59.31noob8650Here is my fstab: https://ghostbin.co/paste/oxpa2
21:01.02sarnoldI don't know if whatever mechanism you're using is just calling through to mouht(8) or if it's going through a privileged service like udisks2..
21:01.11*** join/#kde andyhoang1 (~andyhoang@116.118.113.48)
21:02.10noob8650sarnold: How can I check it? Udisks2 is installed fwiw...
21:06.50sarnoldnoob8650: it looks like you can interact with udisks2 via udiskctl http://storaged.org/doc/udisks2-api/latest/udisksctl.1.html  -- maybe try udiskctl status, udiskctl unlock -b /dev/whatever, udiskctl mount -b /dev/whatever ...
21:07.08sarnoldnoob8650: maybe it'll spit out more useful error messages if your polkit configuration doesn't allow it?
21:07.24tanriol-MI've also seen multiple times that I click in GUI to mount the partition (external HDD), in some time I'm told that I have no permission, but the partition is actually mounted.
21:08.07noob8650Weird... I have no udiskctl, could that be the reason this is not working, let me check if there  is a package for this...
21:08.36*** join/#kde opal (~wowaname@gateway/tor-sasl/opal)
21:08.40sarnoldnoob8650: hmm. that's probably not the reason why it doesn't work but that may make it harder to figure out why it doesn't work

21:11.19noob8650Wtf... I can actually enter the encrypted partition via the file manager even though it is (erroneously) telling me I don't have the permissions to mount it. What is this sorcery?
21:11.38noob8650Sorry for asking then, but this is still non-standard behaviour I would say.
21:11.51noob8650Should I try making an issue on github or somewhere else?
