00:43.36cuchufliHalf the time when KDE starts in Debian stable, my synaptics touchpad doesn't work at all and I'm not able to logout or shutdown from KDE's menus. I seem to be able to reproduce this behavior if I touch the touchpad at all as KDE is loading. It's kind of annoying so I was wondering if there is a known workaround for this

02:36.41rfklong live KDE
02:37.52rfki recently upgraded to KDE5 on fedora, and i use an application list menu, and it appears to be empty even though () the editor shows entries, () kbuildsycoca5 --menutest shows the entries, () they appear in ~/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu
02:38.26rfkthis is what it looks like http://postimg.org/image/vrn18i93v/
02:39.29rfksorry here is a direct link tothe image to aviod that page http://s17.postimg.org/56kicy6qn/snapshot4.png
02:39.50rfkand additionally here is what it looks like when i try to search, the results are cut off at the bottom http://s29.postimg.org/hn6o8v2yf/snapshot5.png
02:40.48rfkworth noting that i started with KDE4 on F21, then upgraded to F22, then downgraded to KDE4 via a fedora 'Copr', then upgraded to F23, before finally doing some package magic per some advice to get KDE5 back
02:41.04rfkAny advice how to proceed?

10:07.11BlaXpiritjamesaxl, a desktop is a window of type "desktop"
10:07.14valoriethe original effort to make computers easier to use by making them comparable to working at an actual desk
10:07.48valoriethus folders, files, erasing, etc.
10:07.56Dracwyrmjamesaxl, a desktop is the main part of the graphical interface where windows and widgets go. Windows are controlled by the window manager

10:19.48Dracwyrmbefore punch cards, there was a keyboard with a 0 and 1 on it and you manually keyed the code in because they didn't know how to read in something as complicated a punch card

18:11.31musicmatzeSo I'm a i3 user atm. I play around with kde on a kubuntu VM right now... and I'm curious on how you kde guys sync your configuration between machines. I'm doing this with git, which works just beautifully. I'd love to keep that. AFAICS, kde writes plain text files in ~/.kde - holds that true for everything? So can I continue syncing my machines configigurations with git?
18:11.40musicmatzeI'm on nixos, if that matters at all.
