06:42.03jonbeebehey, quick question regarding developing kde apps
06:42.15jonbeebespecifically the latest, qt5
06:42.18jonbeebeis c++ the only route?
06:43.08jonbeebe(I know QML is javascript based, but seems like you still need to know c++ to make some real apps)
06:46.26bcooksleywe used to have Python bindings in the KDE 4 era
06:46.31boombatowerany possibilities for why meta key custom global shortcuts I setup no longer work?
06:46.32bcooksleyno idea about the KF5 era
06:46.47bcooksleyboombatower: check kglobalacceld
06:46.51boombatowerin plasma 5
06:46.57bcooksleyand khotkeys
06:47.04bcooksleywhich is probably running as part of kded5
06:47.22jonbeebeI wouldn't mind using JavaScript, but it's not clear if an entire app can be written in QML
06:47.27jonbeebeor if you have to dip into C++
06:47.30bcooksleyto check that open System Settings and search for "Service Manager"
06:47.38boombatowerbcooksley: i was able to configure them in plasma 5, but after some updates they stopped working and now it seems it won't recognize meta key when trying to set shortcut
06:47.44bcooksleyan entire app can't be written in QML at this time i'm afraid jonbeebe
06:48.02jonbeebebrooksley: thanks for the clarification
06:48.05bcooksleyboombatower: i'd suggest checking with "xev" to see what the meta key registers as
06:48.12jonbeebe(looks like Go might be a viable option)
06:48.48boombatowerbcooksley: looks like it no longer registers at all
06:48.51boombatowerwhich is consistent with behavior
06:49.02boombatowersomething with xinput configuration or something that's eating it?
06:49.05boombatoweror perhaps a kernel update
06:49.07boombatowerhmm
06:49.11jonbeebeC++ is just a mammoth of a beast I really don't want to go into right now, might need to end up going that route though if I seriously want to develop a Qt app
06:49.26bcooksleyjonbeebe: there is probably a skeleton out there you can utilise to get started
06:49.40bcooksleyboombatower: check dmesg to see if the kernel doesn't know how to handle it
06:49.45bcooksleyotherwise check your keyboard layout
06:49.46mystica555_qt apps can be written in qtscript ;)
06:49.54mystica555_all depends on what you want
06:50.08jonbeebemystica555: includes qt5?
06:50.22mystica555_maybe not 5
06:50.22jonbeebeis qtscript just another name for QML?
06:50.26mystica555_probably
06:50.32mystica555_im not familiar with qt5 yer
06:50.33mystica555_*yet
06:50.34boombatowerbcooksley: generic 101 key pc
06:51.13bcooksleyQtScript and QML are different creatures
06:51.18bcooksleyboth based on Javascript
06:51.33bcooksleybut incompatible
06:51.34jonbeebeah, ok, thanks for the clarification
06:52.41jonbeebebtw reason why I ask is because i just switched to plasma 5 (from gnome - as well as os x) and loving it

11:58.10JobavaSafa_[A_boy]: any idea how to disable the autosuggestion context in the typing text box? It's interfering with my hotkey I use to go to the next string: "Ctrl + ENTER" (same hotkey for Pootle). And pressing ENTER will insert an unwanted suggestion.
