06:57.02tehchezoh sweet thanks man
06:57.58tehchezhmm i dont see anything in here about opengl
06:59.10cb400flook for the [compositing] section and the "backend" option I guess
06:59.54cb400fbut you should prolly just rename/remove the file to get back to defaults, instead of trying to fix it

07:00.32tehchezahh, so yeah this isnt for the effects just so your aware, it was a new menu option at the bottom of the settings next to the partition manager
07:00.42tehchezand had 3 options for rendering the desktop
07:01.06tehchezdefault, something, and opengl (experimental) and since mental is in that word I was like. Ohhh thats for me
07:02.03cb400fno idea what kcm that might have been
07:02.25cb400fsounds to me like it might be something distro specific or 3rd party at least

07:45.28cb400fok.. good to know.. sounds like a dangerous thing to have right at the fingertips of users
07:45.55tehchez:D yeah thats for sure, i was like, oh opengl works with my effects nicely, this should be neato
07:45.58tehchezbad idea
07:46.33tehchezapparently you can use qt 4 to render things instead of the native rendering which i am going to look into more, because it also apparently greatly reduces the load on X11 which is nice
07:46.56tehchezso load up chrome using opengl and the gfx card directly etc..
07:47.10tehchezthat could be very useful, considering my penchant for tabs :)
07:47.46cb400fguess you have to consider general gfxdriver suckyness too
07:48.48tehchezyeah, i have a pretty sweet hardware setup but there is always room for improvement, and the nvidia drivers actually seem to be doing really well of late (past couple years of late that is)

17:12.50clarjon1Heyo! Akondadi_control, akonadiserver and mysqld are taking up a TON of cpu time ( hogging an entire CPU. ) What can I do to make it be less of a hog? I've got nepomuk disabled, and akonadi is only setup to track 3 IMAP servers. This is on a fresh install of Linux Mint 12, if anyone needs that data.
