01:30.29MneumonicI am thinking of trying KDE 4.7 out.  I know Ubuntu and Chakra linux use it.  Are there any other really good choices for 4.7?  I would like a good implementation of KDE so I can give it a fair shot

01:32.36Belial`opensuse 12.1 rc2 uses 4.7.x
01:32.57MneumonicHow would you say it compares to Kubuntu 11.10?
01:33.22destiafter updatin from 4.7.2 to 4.7.3, kopete does not minimize to tray, just quits instead :-/ what's wrong with it?
01:33.33Belial`i've tried it in a vm briefly. couldn't give a an honest opinion on opensuse.
01:33.48Belial`but i use kubuntu 11.10 and aside from a few quirks, it works good.
01:33.57Belial`and it's snappy.
01:34.06MneumonicSo Kubuntu will give a good KDE implementation, give or take a bit?
01:34.06Belial`it's pretty much a stock kde.
01:34.18MneumonicAlright, I think I will give that a shot then
01:34.24Mneumonicthanks

01:35.22Mneumonicone question
01:35.38Belial`you might want to check on the latest pardus release too.
01:35.46MneumonicWhich menu do you prefer in KDE.  Kicker doesn't look good to me, but Classic and Lancelot look pretty interesting
01:35.47Belial`i hear they have one of the best implementations of kde.
01:35.48destialso kmail heavily brokes, it's always complaining about certificates, even after telling accept forever, requests passwords every time, even they are stored, and receiving mails takes several minutes
01:35.55cordelldoesnt pardus use 4.6 or 4.5?
01:36.17Belial`i'm not sure what the latest release uses.
01:36.25Belial`i think the last one was using 4.6.x
01:36.30Belial`it might still be.
01:36.43cordelli like the 4.6.x kicker menu better
01:37.14Belial`Mneumonic: i use the kicker menu. i like the classic menu too, but prefer kicker because of the search function.
01:37.20Belial`lancelot, i haven't tried.
01:37.32MneumonicHas anyone here tried PC-BSD?  I am wondering how their implementation of KDE is as I know its their primary DE

13:46.39fullstopTicho: I used to build kde 2.x and early 3.x from source once a week or so... but I don't have that kind of time anymore.
13:47.11fullstopIn old KDE releases, I could get the properties of the panel item and click on the icon to change it.

21:34.07johnny69Question...I'll try to make it brief.    Kdm login sceen accepts username and password...screen goes blank for a brief instance and without showing any error immediately throws up the login screen again.  In order to get to the desktop I have to click on,  "Console Login"...sign in that way,  then type,  "startx".  No errors in any log file I can find.  No errors in the kdm log file...no mention of anything!!  Where can I possibly go
21:34.07johnny69has been happening since going from 4.6 to 4.7.xx  Google shows others having the same problem but no solution so far.    (Kde 4.7.2)  Thank you.
