01:36.20matti_how can i prevent kde from maximizing windows to the other monitor when running dual monitors? i've fiddled with the settings but can't find any that would do the trick? i only need two for certain tasks and prefer to have the other turned off but annoyingly kde maximizes minimized windows to that one at random, it seems
01:38.19Torchmatti_: it does not do that for me
01:38.28*** join/#kde keffie_jayx (~quassel@ubuntu/member/effie-jayx)
01:38.34Torchmatti_: but maybe i'm not getting what you meant to say
01:44.14matti_ok, to elaborate: i have a bunch of windows minimized and whenever i maximize or restore one it randomly goes to the other monitor instead of the one in which it is minimized (i use the "magic lamp" setting so i see the window get maximized but to the other monitor and then have to turn it on just to move the window back
01:44.38*** join/#kde katfish7 (~catfish@p54939F24.dip.t-dialin.net)
01:45.59matti_in other words, the window placement goes wrong since instead of being restored or maximized the way they were, the windows go to a different location, which is the other monitor
01:46.39Torchmatti_: i see. but again, does not happen here at all.
01:46.51Torchmatti_: using nvidia binary driver
01:47.24matti_so can kde somehow be configured to remember where a window was when it was minimized so that they would be restored exactly to the location they were
01:47.40matti_same driver here
01:48.01Torchmatti_: that's the default behaviour unless you override that with special windows settings
01:48.21matti_afaik i'm using the defaults as far as anything applicable is concerned
01:50.59matti_is it related to the window behaviour setting "smart" which is the default in my distro (opensuse) at least
01:53.00Torchmatti_: i have that setting too
01:57.49matti_hmm, is there any other setting that could be relevant? i decided to change that to "centered" to test now and so far i've managed to avoid that annoying behaviour but since it happens at random, i don't know for sure yet

02:01.46matti_i've tested some more and this simple change might actually have solved it :b
02:02.07matti_if not, i'll be back later but now it's time for me to sleep, thanks for your help!
