01:56.33James147Triffid_Hunter: panels are tied to the desktop, if that crashed then "plasma-desktop" should restart it, but if the panel is jsut missing you can re add it by rightclciking > add panel
01:58.42Triffid_HunterJames147: hm, can add panels but my primary is still missing.. alt+f1 still brings up the menu and plasma desktop configurator button still exists.. maybe the panel has just disappeared

02:00.22*** part/#kde [IRAQI] (~we5@95.170.223.18)
02:00.32James147Triffid_Hunter: if you removed the panel then you will have to add a blank one and add the widgets back onto it (at least in 4.4, in 4.5 you can add the default panel back)... or you can restart plasma-desktop to its default settings (lossing all widget settings by renameing ~/.kde[4]/share/config/plasma*)
02:01.08James147Triffid_Hunter: it is possible that its set to auto hide, but mousing to each edge should being it back...
02:01.18Triffid_HunterJames147: killing plasma-desktop and restarting it seems to have done the trick, thanks for naming it for me :)
02:01.59James147notes that killing it probally worked as it dosnt save the settings if its killed :)
02:02.52Triffid_HunterJames147: as for mousing,"should" doesn't always translate to "does" and that's where bugs live.. this machine is so reliable that I couldn't separate this from a random cosmic ray though
02:03.58James147Triffid_Hunter: I have yet seen, or hear of a panel being permintly hidden due to a bug :)  ... yet

11:05.11blip-hi, I'm trying to drive two monitors from a nvidia card running KDE4.  When I enable the 'seperate X servers' options, one of the screens doesn't respond to right clicks and the cursor there is an X.  On the other screen it's a normal usable desktop.  If I enable Xinerama then both work fine, but I need to have xinerama off with the touchscreen.  Any idea what's happening ?   thanks

22:29.39krookeyei looked in the dolphin settings but did not see any config for mouse buttong nav
22:30.35dasKreechIT works here
22:33.00tomsdalekrookeye: have you tried the STandard Keyboard Shortcuts in Systemsettings - Keyboard shortcuts?
22:33.21tomsdalethere is a Back action, by default its Alt+Left
22:36.35krookeyei am looking over and mine has alt+left for shortcut and back for alternate
22:36.56krookeyewhen i try and remap the shortcut to back (by clicking my mouse button) i get no response
22:39.45tomsdaleah - you want to use your mouse button for the back action. I'm not sure whether it recognizes mouse buttons as key presses. I only have 3 buttons :-(
22:40.29krookeyeaye, no biggie thanks for the effort
22:40.36tomsdalekrookeye: but I guess this would have something to do with your xorg config to report the event to KDE

22:43.26tomsdalesry - I meant warmouse.com with monster. It has 18 buttons :-)
22:43.52krookeyewarmouse?  i may have to check that out
22:44.31krookeyedamn, you could pilot the shuttle with taht thing
22:44.38teprrrearlier some hacks were required to get that functionality
22:44.50tomsdalethey don't have a linux configuration software yet :-(
22:44.53teprrrodd that in firefox and rekonq my mx518's back&forward buttons do work just fine :P
22:45.24tomsdalekrookeye: actually with this thing you could work in vi without using a keyboard :-)
22:46.59tomsdaleI know from my trackpad that for extra button functionality you have to do some xml configuration in files like /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf
22:47.52tomsdaleno - not xml - just configuration file. mine looks like this: http://pastebin.ca/1949980
22:47.53krookeyeoh yea, whats really needling me is that it is working as expected in fire fox, its only dolphin that i am getting no love
22:48.32tomsdaleI started to hate FF in KDE - because it's the only application which doesn't get the buttons right. Middle clicks result in random urls being opened.

22:49.41tomsdalemostly chromium and recently FF again but with vimperator - no need for a mouse there :-)

23:02.24krookeyeindeed :)
23:03.02tomsdaleI think xorg acts as a layer between a physical click and KDE receiving an event. I think there was a commandline tool which shows you what's passed on by xorg.
23:04.24krookeyeafter looking over my xorg file. i think it just using a a generic driver
