07:57.19 | voytech_ | cb400f: but kde 4.4 i stable now ? |
07:57.49 | cb400f | it's stable upstream.. that doesn't mean the packages you're about to install are tested and stable |
07:58.16 | cb400f | isn't kubuntu 10.04 with kde 4.4.x being release in two weeks or so anyway? |
07:59.31 | voytech_ | cb400f: You know becouse I've 9.10 Karmic koala and wirth kde 4.3.2 everything works fine, but after switching to 4.4 last timeI had some problems with xonnecting to x-server after making some visual changes |

23:12.24 | KenBW2 | it does seem less smooth than Compiz/Gnome though |
23:13.57 | djustice | KenBW2: it isnt as mature as compiz. but its getting better and better. smooth as can be on 4.5. on a 32mb intel acer aspire d250 netbook... and that's pretty low-end... |
23:14.18 | djustice | KenBW2: where did you read that? |
23:14.28 | KenBW2 | if its due to improve then its all good |

23:15.24 | KenBW2 | im not so sure - software generally becomes more power hungry as it progresses |
23:15.47 | tbx | having a difficulty with KDE 4.4, on a fresh, new install of archlinux. The settings in "Display" -> "Size & Orientationi" do not persist through a logout/login. I can set it to have DVI-1 be "right of" DVI-0, and it works fine. Log out, log in, and DVI-1 is back to being "Clone of" DVI-0. I was around yesterday, and someone said that it was because krandrtray wasn't running. I set it running, auto upon login. No fix. |

23:16.45 | djustice | KenBW2: kwin is better than ever. and imho, kde4 beats the socks off of kde3... 'powerhungry' == features. |
23:17.40 | KenBW2 | djustice: that may be true (i only had a brief exposure to KDE3), but if KDE4.5 doesnt run well on my hardware thet doesnt help me |
23:17.47 | KenBW2 | especially as Compiz runs fine |
23:19.14 | djustice | KenBW2: kde 4.5 will run just fine i bet. maybe not kwin. but in that case, compiz is what you want anyway. it still has tons more plugins. and 3+ years on kwin's xcore compositing. |
23:19.40 | djustice | tattoo to do... peace, love, and kde |
23:20.16 | KenBW2 | KDE4.4 does run ok, but theres he occasional jerkiness which irks me a bit |
