17:57.15fluffy_pigeonsHi, where Can I check what changes have been made to Devuan ASCII package repositories? I'm trying to build GNU Ring communicator from the source code, but it fails. Weird thing is that versions which I compiled successfully earlier now throws an error. I suspect it's devuan fault, because system reinstalling doesn't help and now every version is broken, so it can't be Ring's bug. Package which may cause compilation error is
17:57.15fluffy_pigeonslibmsgpack-dev. Also Ring needs at least 1.1v, whereas 1.4.2-4v is installed (make said it could not be found). (Sorry if this message was sent twice, I'm new to IRC)

22:24.01cirdanjust wondering, but why was a full xorg env installed even though I deselected x11 in the installer. the only thing i left checked was standard system utils. i even did a console install

22:31.24fsmithredcirdan, that's unusual. I install the same way, and I've never had that happen.
22:32.22fsmithredmaybe there's a hint in the installer log. I don't remember the exact file name, but it should be in /var/log (probably /var/log/installer)
22:33.31cirdanyeah i was surprised and annoyed
22:34.23cirdanalso i wish raspbian would go with devuan, or at least a systemd-less debian base :)
22:36.32fsmithreddon't we have an equivalent image for rpi?
22:39.09fsmithredcirdan, https://files.roundr.devuan.org/devuan_ascii/embedded/
22:42.07cirdani mean with all the special rpi bits
22:42.30fsmithredoh, I don't know the details about either of them
22:42.42fsmithredwhat bits?
22:44.34cirdandevice tree stuff, custom kernels, some drivers and apps
22:46.48cirdanis the embedded built with hard foat abi?
22:47.07Centurion_Dancirdan: I believe thats all there, although I think some of the odd chips in the rpi 1 and rpi 0 series that aren't proper arm7 are only armel and don't have the hardfloat abi
22:47.43cirdanCenturion_Dan: not sure about that since the raspbian images work with every pi version
22:47.52Centurion_Danthe rpi3 being arm64 is built with everything arm64
22:48.05Centurion_Danin devuan at least.
22:48.11cirdanyeah but not raspbian
22:49.15cirdanthe 3b+ is arm8 but it reports arm7 by default

22:51.00Centurion_Dancirdan: IIRC raspbian did a custom architecture to take advantage of the vpf and neon - but the newer arm7 chips on later rpi2's didn't get their own armhf build as that would pretty much be just debian...
22:51.47cirdanyeah i read the faq
22:51.59Centurion_Dancirdan: devuan had working arm8 compatible arm64 before debian did.
22:52.25Centurion_Danas ready to go images for arm64 hardware.
